Sit Astride ATV/Quadbike
Sit Astride ATV/Quad bikes remain a popular choice in the agricultural and forestry sectors as they offer unrivalled capability for accessing challenging terrain where minimal load carrying capacity is required.
Unfortunately there has been a trend of incidents involving these machines in the workplace, often as a result of poor operator technique, operating the machine beyond the manufacturer’s design specification, or injury resulting from a lack of appropriate PPE.
The LANTRA Sit Astride/Quadbike training course is ideal for professional users who will be expected to operate these machines safely in the workplace.
Our courses cover mandatory units:
- Legislation and regulation for usage of ATVs in the workplace
- Pre-use checks and record keeping
- Safe procedures for level ground operation
Additional optional units:
- Operating machine laden and securing loads
- Operating the machine on rough terrain and slopes
- Towing trailers
- Loading the machine for transport
Training takes place over two days but may be reduced to a single day for experienced operators or those undertaking refresher training.
Courses fulfil all the requirements under PUWER 1998 and are recognised by the HSE/HSA and the HSENI as being appropriate for workplace users.
Courses cover Health and Safety, physical attributes of ATVs, safe use of controls and driver aids, vehicle checks and preparation, loading, assessment of terrain and riding techniques.
