  • Off Road Consultancy do not generally offer ‘open’ courses. However, prospective candidates can register an interest in a specific training course and we may be able to offer spaces on an ad-hoc basis when they become available.

  • We absolutely encourage training in the workplace on the equipment employees use day-to-day in their normal working environment. This not only makes the training as relevant as possible, but also offers a cost effective solution for employers.

  • Off Road Consultancy has access to a variety of training sites throughout England, Wales and Scotland that are suitable for 4×4, ATV and winching training.

  • Yes, subject to the equipment being of a safe, serviceable standard & compliant with any relevant legislation and regulation. Candidates are welcome to use their own vehicles and equipment for training courses.

  • It is a requirement of the PPE regulations to Risk Assess and wear appropriate PPE for the machinery you are operating. It is detailed in the HSE guidance note AIS33 that helmets are to be worn for using quad bikes in the workplace.

  • Depending upon successful completion of the training course, you will receive either a certification or a qualification in the subject skills area.

  • Our instructor team will endeavour to ensure you are adequately prepared for any assessment.

    In the case that a candidate fails to meet the required standard, an instructor will assist in preparing a development plan to guide the candidate through the steps needed prior to a reassessment.

  • Yes, we can provide equipment on training courses at additional cost. We have a variety of 4×4 vehicles, trailers and ATVs on fleet.

  • We are able to provide training and additional services throughout the UK and also further afield, including Europe.

  • We will always endeavour to complete training in most weather conditions. Should the weather or ground conditions become too hazardous, ORC reserves the right to cancel training and reschedule completion at the earliest possible date.

  • ORC uses industry expert instructors from a variety of backgrounds and skill sets to ensure the training is relevant to the workplace.

  • We can deliver 4×4 training with all varieties of 4×4 vehicles including electric, hybrid and conventional internal combustion.

  • These may vary depending on the nature of your training course booking. Please see the cancellation policy supplied within the Terms and Conditions of your booking.

  • Our LANTRA 4×4 training, LANTRA ATV training and LANTRA Winching courses are suitable for a wide range of users including: rail sector workers, forestry workers, arboriculturalists, conservation industry workers, emergency services, volunteer Search and Rescue teams (SAR), mountain rescue, cave rescue, automotive industry and agricultural workers, The Coastguard, governmental and charitable organisations.

  • Our suite of LANTRA training courses we provide meet the requirements placed under PUWER and are recognised by the Health and Safety Executive in England, Wales and Scotland, the Health and Safety Authority in the Republic of Ireland and the Health and Safety Executive (NI) in Northern Ireland.

  • The requirements and specification for all required PPE will be sent out as part of the joining instructions provided by Off Road Consultancy in the preceding weeks before course delivery.

  • Where this will not have an impact on the delivery of the training in terms of reducing the operator time on machinery or quality of course delivery, we are able to be flexible given prior notice and with the agreement of the instructor.

  • Training course delivery can be varied in duration to allow for differing levels of operator knowledge and experience to be catered for. Duration of training may also vary depending on the suitability of the venue or where additional specific needs are identified.

  • We can tailor 4×4 training courses for all marques and models of 4×4 vehicles and operate on appropriate ground for each. We ask that vehicles are presented in a safe, clean condition, the user manual is present and that all loads are/can be secured effectively or separated from the passenger cabin.

  • Most winching operations fall under PUWER 1998 rather than LOLER. Our general recommendation, however, is that all of the general principles identified with inspection and record-keeping under LOLER are followed with winching equipment.

  • LANTRA skid steer training courses are suitable for all varieties of tracked and wheeled skid steer ATVs including Softrack, Scot-Track, Argocat and Supacat ATMP.
